Shine Bright like the Sun, Nelson County!
Empowering Nelson County: Smart Renewables Light the Way
Wild Rose
Solar Project
Wild Rose Solar Project, LLC is pleased to introduce a proposed 90 MW solar generation facility in Nelson County, Virginia. This facility will deliver many positive benefits to the local community.
Committed to promoting sustainable living through solar energy, we believe that solar energy can transform the way we live and work, and we are passionate about educating the public about the benefits of solar energy in their community. Our team of sustainability developers is dedicated to helping communities make the transition to a more sustainable future.
This project is both an economic development opportunity for greater Nelson County and a significant revenue development opportunity for the local tax jurisdictions that deliver key services to residents.
The project will also benefit regional electricity consumers and the environment by generating clean, low-cost renewable energy and providing vital backup power that increases electric grid resilience and reduces outages.
Benefits of a
Solar Project
A solar project provides a healthy, productive economic development opportunity for local landowners to harvest a stable cash crop—the sun. Benefits include positive impacts to the local economy through revenue to local governments and support to other local services.
In addition to being safe and compatible with agricultural and rural residential uses, solar energy facilities exist in harmony with wildlife and the environment. They make good neighbors because they operate almost silently without producing odor or byproducts or attracting additional traffic.
In the bigger picture, solar energy projects provide an abundant, earth-friendly, sustainable power resource to help stabilize electricity costs. These amazing systems lessen carbon emissions and contribute to the diversification of the nation’s electricity grid.
Project Facts & Economic Benefits
Solar power produces direct positive economic impacts by contributing to the economic revitalization of local communities through increases to the local tax base and by creating stable revenue to fund local schools and other taxing bodies.
Solar power also generates indirect positive economic impacts during the construction process as local businesses (restaurants, gas stations, hotels, stores, and more) and supply chains experience an influx of customers.
Location of Project
The project is located in Gladstone, Virginia, within Nelson County.
Size of Project
The project will generate up to 90 megawatts (MW) of clean electricity over its expected 35-year operating life.
Transmission
The project’s planned point of interconnection is the Gladstone Substation.
